I am working on a project that requires the use of a rechargeable battery with port for external charging for the TX134 receiver.

On the face of the circuit board, lower left hand side, there are 6 contacts. two of which are labeled “+” and “-”. Is it safe to utilize those contacts for a new battery source? Of course, the existing battery would be removed before adding a different battery source.

Yes you can use them as battery source.
Just make sure the voltage is below 3.3v
