Garage door does not respond

People,

Have the solid remote, 202U v5. I have 2 remotes, and they both worked for a few years now. But now, neither one works/activates the transmitter to open/close the garage door. Suspect should be the receiver, as chances for BOTH remotes being faulty should be slim (right?)

I checked for voltage at the 120V receptacle, and it is good. I noticed that the adapter (small black box) that plugs into the 120V plug is not warm to touch. Is that normal, or could that be a sign that the receiver/adapter is faulty? Battery V is >3V for both remotes.

Not sure how else to troubleshoot this.

Thanks, people.

Hi,
Would you please open the cover of 202u, and check the PWR led, to see if it turns on when powered?
If the PWR led is off, then maybe you can try change a 12vdc adapter, to see if it is the problem.
Thank you.

Thanks, William. I opened it up and I see a bright red led light. Always on, except if I unplug the adapter, then i goes off after 2-3 seconds, then on again when plugged in. What do we do from here, William?

Is there another power adapter that you can replace to try?
And if you try to program the remotes again, does the receiver respond?
Thanks.

Thanks again, William. Good tip, I will try to reprogram the remote.

I can try another adapter, but how do I tell if one is compatable? Will it be indicated on the adapter itself, example: should it indicate “12V”? Or something else, like hertz? Amps?

Yes, as long as it outputs 12V dc power, it should work just fine.

Wow! I reprogrammed one remote and it worked!! I pressed that top button on receiver, and then pressed the “A” on the remote, and it worked!

But I repeated that on the 2nd remote and nothing happened. I tried it 3-4 times. The battery is >3V. Should I be able to use the A button on both remotes? I even tried it on the lower button on the receiver. No luck for that 2nd remote yet. I am not giving up! I am missing something…

Yes you can use A button on both remotes, but you can also try other buttons such as button B/C/D to see if it works.
Thanks.

William, just got new batteries, and the 2nd remote now works for reprogramming! Thanks for your help!

PS: for the future- if a battery goes bad/weak, must one reprogram every time once new battery is replaced?

Hi,
I think reprogram is not always needed, but you can always try that if remote stopped working.
Thank you.

Good to know, Thanks, William.
